DJI Mini 4 Pro Review: The Tiny Drone That Packs a Serious Punch

I’ve been using DJI products for almost 10 years now from their early phone gimbals to DSLR stabilizers, drones, and even the DJI Mic. Every piece of gear has been reliable, easy to use, and a big part of my creative journey. Last October I picked up the DJI Mini 3 and it quickly became one of my favourite tools for both personal and professional projects. But when the Mini 4 Pro launched the upgrades were just too tempting to pass on. By April it was in my hands and I haven’t looked back since.

I’ve taken the Mini 4 Pro all around Toronto and Montreal, where it handled the urban landscapes beautifully, even weaving through tighter spots where I’d normally be more cautious. Over the summer, it even traveled with me back home to Sri Lanka. That’s where I really put it to the test flying along the windy southern beaches, capturing dramatic coastline shots, and then taking it up into the misty, cold mountains of Kandy. The portability meant I could pack it easily for road trips and still trust it to deliver high quality footage in very different environments.

The omnidirectional obstacle sensing has been a game changer for flying confidently, especially in new or tricky locations. The 48MP 1/1.3-inch sensor with its ability to shoot 4K at 100fps has given me sharp, cinematic footage everywhere I’ve gone. Creative flight modes like ActiveTrack 360° and Hyperlapse came in handy for solo shooting whether it was tracking movement along busy city streets or revealing wide, scenic landscapes back home.

Battery life has held up well too 34 minutes on the standard pack and up to 45 minutes with the Plus battery. For long days exploring Sri Lanka, that extra flight time was worth the slightly heavier setup.

After a decade with DJI, the Mini 4 Pro feels like one of their best “do it all” drones portable enough to take across cities and continents, yet powerful enough to capture professional level content wherever I go.
