My Journey in Media & Photography
Hi, my name is Shivane Augustus and I’m a student at Humber College, studying Media Communications. My passion for media didn’t just appear overnight. It started back in high school, where I took on the challenge of starting a Media Club and serving as its President.
Where It All Began
I first started experimenting with photography and video as a hobby. What began as taking photos of everyday moments quickly turned into something much bigger when I launched the Media Club at my school. Building a club from the ground up wasn’t easy, but it gave me the perfect space to experiment with photography, videography and even drones.
It was during this time that I realized visuals weren’t just about capturing a scene, they were about communicating an idea. Each project taught me how powerful media could be in telling stories, inspiring people, and creating impact.
Studying Media at Humber
That spark is what led me to pursue Media Communications at Humber College. At Humber, I’m learning the technical, creative, and strategic sides of content creation from digital design to film production all while expanding the foundation I built back in high school.
Creative Touch Media
Alongside my studies, I also run my own freelancing company called Creative Touch Media. What started as school projects and personal experiments has now grown into working with clients, producing professional photography, videographyand creative content. Running my own company has pushed me to develop not just as a creator, but also as an entrepreneur managing projects, clients and deadlines while keeping creativity at the heart of it all.
Looking Ahead
My journey began with a simple hobby and a small club, but today, it’s grown into a career path I’m deeply passionate about. As I continue at Humber and grow Creative Touch Media, my goal is to keep exploring new ways of storytelling, whether through cameras, drones, or emerging technologies.
This is only the beginning, and I’m excited to see how far creativity will take me.
